Securing Skies, Ensuring Trust

About Us
The Aviation Security Command (AVSECOM) is the official aviation security service provider in the Republic of Maldives, mandated to ensure the safety and security of civil aviation operations across all Maldivian airports. Operating under the Ministry of Defence, AVSECOM safeguards the nation's aviation environment in alignment with national legislation and international aviation security standards.
Our roots trace back to 1966, beginning with a basic airport guard service. Since then, AVSECOM has evolved into a modern and professional aviation security organization. The current Aviation Security Command was officially inaugurated on 1st January 2013, reflecting the growing need for robust aviation security in a dynamic global landscape.

Understanding aviation security procedures helps passengers pass through checkpoints smoothly and confidently. Here are the most commonly asked questions:
01 What items are allowed in my carry-on and checked luggage?
Carry-On Baggage: Passengers are allowed to carry liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) in containers 100ml or smaller, placed in a single, transparent, resealable plastic bag. Sharp objects, weapons, and other prohibited items are not permitted. Checked Baggage: Some items not allowed in carry-on may be permitted in checked luggage, subject to security screening. Always check with your airline and consult official guidelines for updates and restrictions.
02 What is the aviation security screening process?
Before entering the departure area, passengers undergo several security checks, including: Removing shoes, belts, jackets, and electronic devices (laptops, chargers, power banks, etc.) for X-ray screening. Placing these items individually in trays (not overlapping). Emptying pockets of all belongings (phones, coins, keys) before body screening. Cooperating during any physical searches, ensuring nothing is left in pockets..
03 How early should I arrive at the airport?
Domestic Flights: Arrive at least 2 hours before departure. International Flights: Arrive at least 3 hours before departure. During peak travel periods or if requiring special assistance, consider arriving even earlier to avoid delays and ensure a smooth screening experience.
